Boiler Room Board Meeting Minutes
September 17, 2007
Present:
Board Members: Julia, Cory, Catska, Marc, Bruce, Amy, Steve, Terri, Gigi
Paid Staff: Scott, Chauncey
Guests: Cindy Wolpin; Port Townsend Peace Movement, Tina Nye; accountant
Board Members not present: Maitland, Thais
August meeting minutes approved as corrected
GUEST CINDY WOLPIN:
Proposes a changeable sign in the window indicating the cost of the Iraq war
Responsibility for changing the sign would belong to the Boiler Room
Board will support if this is what the staff want
FINANCE:
"Balance sheets balance on purpose"
Still in the process of streamlining
Would like manager to have more of an idea of the costs of goods sold
Will print out report of just Boiler Room profit, not including Social Services payments and grants
Total current assets total $123,447.99
Accountant will show us collapsed reports in the future, instead of full reports.
BUILDING:
Still standing.
Phase one of roofing project completed; flashing on. Must still coat whole roof and other misc. small tasks.
Chauncey has been making to-do lists for Steve; small projects being completed.
SCOTT:
Offered job in Santa Cruz in Feb. (NOTE: Now Jan. 1st). Will be accepting.
New staffing intern: Carleigh Slater
New programs intern: Michael Thomas
CHAUNCEY:
Wooden Boat Festival Nightwatch donated payment money directly to Boiler Room.
Chauncey will email Wooden Boat report to the Board
There has been a bike workshop every two weeks, sponsored by PT Bike Association.
Question of access to funds obtained from the garage sale; budget for social services
-tabled until October board meeting; Chauncey will keep track of his desired funding for the next month
GIGI:
Should we participate in the town dollars program? We would need a credit card machine.
STEVE:
Has telephone interview with the Gates Foundation on September 25th.
Terri proposes mini-retreat in October to ponder the bigger questions of life; i.e. swiping credit card machine, paypal for online donations, the social services budget, a new manager, life, the universe and everything...
Thus, the next scheduled board meeting will be
October 15 at the abode of Bruce, between the hours of 5 and 9.
