Boiler Room Board Meeting
January 21, 2008

Present:
Board Members: Amy, Steve, Cory, Catska, Marc, Julia, Terri, Maitland, Gigi, Bruce
Manager: Jason
Intern: Chauncey
Guest: Karen (didn’t catch last name)–Health Dept
Board Member not present: Thais
December meeting minutes approved
BUILDING:
Shelves to be built
Paperwork for hanging sign has been submitted
Small murals have been added to the walls
HEALTH DEPARTMENT:
Smoking complaint has been filed–1st equals warning
All of the back alley and courtyard is off limits to smokers
Karen suggests brainstorming (e.g. more signs, cessation classes) done by kids
FINANCE:
Fundraising letter worked, brought in about $6000
Credit card machine has been earning it’s keep
More fundraisers needed… e.g. bowl fundraiser, concerts, cookies, valentines
Guesstimate needed of monthly fundraisers needed ASAP for budget
W-2’s will be out at end of the month
Cory will continue to discuss private funding with Kees Kolff
Cory motions that Gigi Callaizakis, Teresa Comstock and Bruce Marston be the signatories for all of the Boiler Room’s bank accounts. Catska seconds the motion, and all present are in favor.
Maitland motions that the Boiler Room president, currently Gigi Callaizakis, be given the authority to sign any documents for the board. Bruce seconds the motion and all present are in favor.
Terri motions that the manager’s wage be increased from $9.00/hour to $10.00/hour. Catska seconds, and all present are in favor.
MANAGER’S REPORT:
Staff and interns have decided that Jason has to watch his frickin’ mouth.
Will be redoing the phone lines; plug directly into the net; free internet business account; cable TV boxes; free internet; free digital cable (didn’t catch who was making this offer)
Espresso machine in final throes.
Otis Spunkmeyer cookies selling well, making profit.
OTHER:
Kiwanis seeking nominations for teen leader awards–Gigi will send out requirements and accept nominations.
Julie Plachta will be taking a training course to use the Community Van for Expedition Club.
Next Board Meeting date will be changed anyway….. and already happened.
