Boiler Room Board Meeting Minutes
October 23, 2008

Present:
Board Members:  Gigi, Bruce, Andrew, Terri, Steve, Cory, Catska, Julia, and Amy (late)
Board Members not present:  Marc, Thais, Maitland (LOA)
Manager:  Jason
Prospective Board Members:  Mary Hilts, Liz Rivera Goldstien
Volunteer:  Ellie Spitzbart

Kelly Matlock was asked, by her employer, to participate in staff meetings; joining the board may be a conflict of interest

In discussions with local grant writer Chris Nelson
Estimated cost $1200 a month
Terri motions that after a favorable background check, the finance committee be authorized to offer Chris Nelson a three month contract as a "Development Director," with one month pay donated by Gigi and two months from the savings account
Julia seconds

Finance:
$300 "in the red" if all bills are paid
Boiler Room has been closed a lot
Severe drop off in monthly donations
Newsletter (coming out December) will include donation form with space for credit info
Also to include "Gift card" purchase in amounts of $100 and $50

Julia moves that Andrew transfer $1500 from savings into checking

Building:
Moving old dead fridge out and donating it to Haunt Townsend
Remodel in process and IS process (progress?)

Collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters to recruit recruitment intern; Gigi working with

Thais still drafting restriction policy

Manager Report:
Jason "caught" himself using NVC techniques, also "catching" himself not using them and switching tactics successfully
Coffeehouse intern quit; interviewing applicants
Writing procedures and job descriptions for all intern positions
Costco "moving along"

Andrew offering to maintain Boiler Room website---hooooooooray!
