Boiler Room Board Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2008
Called to order 7 p.m.
Present:
Board Members: Gigi, Terri, Amy, Steve, Julia, Thais, Cory, Catska, Bruce
Manager: Jason
Interns: Chauncey, Margaret, Michael
Guests: Officer Michael Evans, Andrew Rudding, Raphael, Julie Plachta,
Board Members not present: Marc, Maitland
January meeting minutes need Karen's last name before approval
February meeting minutes need names of reps for Expedition Club before approval
FINANCE:
Credit card through Bank of America with Gigi as contact. 0% interest for six months. Amount unknown.
Still need more information regarding refinancing
June 21st auction at Fort Worden chapel, Kees Kolff and Joey Pipia involved
Soup Event March 21--150 bowls glazed, $15 all you can eat + bowl
Considering sidewalk washing fundraiser
Sunrise Coffee contract will return 3-7% profits of BR Blend sale to Boiler Room
Espresso machine purchased for $4200, on it's way. (Bellingham machine getting picked up this weekend)
NEIGHBOR RELATIONS:
Propose that underage smokers be banned from the Boiler Room
Police interaction has been positive
Areas for smoking need to be identified by the town
Announcements are being made at shows regarding proper smoking etiquette
Propose Boiler Room sponsored litter patrol, making repeat offenders pick up butts
Keep record of progress/attempts made
Propose asking historical society and city for fancy pants no smoking signs
Officer Evans "Boiler Room kids are not the biggest problem. Drunk adults are the biggest problem. If the Boiler Room wasn't here, the kids would still be here."
BUILDING:
Progress being made on sign
Easement issues need clarification; 2 opinions at least
Dave Timmons doesn't recall having a conversation about the gate...all board members present do recall
Gate necessary for emergencies
MANAGER:
Food Coop will have a bean jar for Boiler Room--ea. bean equals 5 cents to the Boiler Room
Thanks to Steve for computer removal
Talking about using easement for "Farmer's Market and Art Sales"
Drafting a new job description for Chauncey
-Social Service intern position lasts one year or more
New job descriptions being drafted for all intern postions
Applications in for programs intern
We have cable! Cheap--$60 instead of $200 for services including cable, free long distance, high speed internet
MISC:
Maitland is ill.
Julia motions he be put on medical leave of absence until January unless he shows up before
Catska seconds.
All present in favor, with an agreement to revisit this issue in April.
Next Meeting will be held April 21, 2008 at The Boiler Room at 7 p.m.
