Boiler Room Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy

The Boiler Room is committed to equal access, opportunity, and treatment for all persons without regard to age, race or color, religion or creed or lack thereof, ethnicity or national origin, marital or parental or military status, physical characteristics, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation. In keeping with that policy, The Boiler Room is committed to maintaining an environment free of discrimination and harassment based on the aforementioned attributes. This policy shall be posted at all times in The Boiler Room.

Harassment may include unsolicited remarks, gestures, or physical contact; display or circulation of written materials or pictures derogatory to someone because of any of the above-mentioned actual or perceived personal attributes.

Another form of harassment - sexual harassment - is unwelcome or unwanted sexual advances or requests for sexual favors. A particularly serious form of sexual harassment involves basing personnel decisions on an employee's response to unwelcome verbal or physical advances.

The Boiler Room will not tolerate any sexual advances toward underage individuals.

Violence or the threat of violence, even when disguised as a "joke," is yet another form of harassment.

If you feel you are being harassed by anyone on the Boiler Room premises you should immediately speak with the manager, who will see that the matter is investigated, and appropriate action taken. If you do not feel that the matter can be discussed with the manager or the complaint is against the manager, get in touch with members of the Board of Directors to discuss your complaint.

The Boiler Room will ensure fair and impartial investigations that will protect the rights of the person(s) filing harassment complaints, and the person(s) complained against. Retaliation against anyone who makes a complaint of harassment or who is involved in a complaint process will not be tolerated. Neither will the filing of complaints that turn out to be verifiably false, as such false complaints are themselves a form of harassment.

Violation of this policy shall subject offenders to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate discharge from employment and/or banishment from the premises.

(adopted by all present at the 19 March 2009 meeting of the Board of Directors)
