Guest Guy: Ray Ketcham: An editorial and documentary photographer. Concentrates on “things that are sucessful.” Lived here 35+ years. Runs workshop called Close to Home. Dropped in for cup of coffee, thought “Why haven't I seen a real photo essay on the Boiler Room?” Would like to spend the next six or seven months taking photos, asking question, wandering in and out. Would like to put this community within a community out into the world in an appropriate way. Name of magazine: rearcurtain.com. Photos would be available for use in grants. (applause)
OSHA Report/Thomas' Life Issue (Safety Third): Fire extinguishers. We have a dry chemical fire extinguisher that makes a big huge nasty chemically mess, but is good for all kinds of fires. Pull the whole pin out like it’s a grenade. Push down top lever, in short bursts. You don't have to hold it down. Use sweeping motions if the fire is large. Little dial on side of it that should be in the green zone. If it's in the red zone, it's no good, and needs to be replaced. Service dates are noted on a tag on the extinguisher. If it's an electrical fire, remove the source of electricity. Unplug, use the breaker, remove the power!
Board is Awesome, Join It: UGN seeking Good Neighbor nominations. Board meeting tonight at 6:30 pm. Family portrait April, Ray will photograph (applause). There will be a BBQ in June (applause). There will be a zine put out at the beginning of June, and we love that Becky makes that go (huge amounts of applause).
Community Things: 6th of April Library closed, reopen April 16th in Mountain View Commons while work is being done. Bela will be trying to import husbands and wives from Portland; let him know if you need one. Miscommunication regarding Food Not Bombs, resolved.
Life Issues!!! We're real people.
Count it down: We freakin' love the Boiler Room.
